Benefiting Texas Equusearch, Harley’s Angels, Toys For Tots
Mean Gene Kelton’s Southern Fried 4th of July Picnic and Music Festival at the Hawg Stop Amphitheater on Sheldon Road in Houston, Texas on Saturday, July 4th, 2009 has become the buzz of southeast Texas. Event executive producer, Bluesrocker Mean Gene Kelton, guarantees that those attending will have a hell of a great time celebrating their well-earned right to raise hell as free Americans!
“It’s gonna be a fantastic, fun filled day”, says Mean Gene. “I envisioned a 4th of July party that was a cross between a Grateful Dead concert and a traveling tent circus. There’ll be a lot of just plain folks there lettin’ go of their inhibitions and leavin’ their problems behind for just a little while to come in, enjoy themselves and get crazy. There’ll be bikers, babes, bands, ice cold beer, BBQ, a dunking booth and vendors offering a wide variety of goods, services and oddities. A fantastic fireworks show will cap off festival!“
“I personally hand picked each of the southern fried house rockin’ bands because they all kick-ass! If you love southern rock and Texas blues, it’s gonna be a high-energy, exciting event that will surely incite biker babes in wet tshirts to dance with reckless abandon into the night. Imagine, “Woodstock... Texas Style!” “
3pm: The 4-Barrel Ramblers: Blazing rebel rockabilly renditions of Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Elvis, The Ventures, and more!
4:30: Clovis! Metallica meets Lynyrd Skynyrd! Critics are calling them “the next big thing”.
6pm: Brother 2 Brother. Grammy Nominated Bluesrock band! Their CD, Looking For Texas has captured national attention. B2B features that red hot, sassy blues diva, Sandy Hickey. She’ll rip the heart out of the toughest biker and make him beg for more!
7pm: “Uncle Dave”, Pastor of The Biker Church and General Manager of Eastside Honda in Baytown will perform a “blessing of the bikes” and say a few words of inspiration to remind us all of the sacrifices our troops past and present have made so that we can live free and celebrate the 4th of July as free nation. Everybody say AMEN!
7:30pm: The Headliner: The Beat Daddys from Nashville, one of the hottest road warrior bands on the planet, will blow the tops out of the trees! They have worked with Johnny Winter, B.B. King, ZZ Top and packed the house at the annual Janis Joplin Birthday Bash in Port Arthur, Texas for over 15 years. Their CD Five Moons is one of the top five CDs ever spotlighted on Dan Aykroyd’s House of Blues Radio Show. They‘ll have the crowd rockin’ into the night with their hip-shakin’, southern-fried delta boogie!
9:15: Mean Gene Kelton & The Die Hards will close the show as a bevy of red-hot biker babes bump and grind on stage to the hypnotic rhythm of “My Baby Don’t Wear No Panties”!
A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Texas Equusearch, Harley’s Angels and Toys For Tots. A poker run ramrodded by Lonnie “Starman” Loehr will benefit the United States Marines Toys For Tots program. Participation in the poker run automatically includes admission into Mean Gene’s 4th of July event. Contact Lonnie at: celoehr@msn.com.

Mean Gene may have earned his moniker from playing a “mean” guitar but when it comes to promotion, he is a shameless promoter with a notorious reputation for outrageous publicity stunts that have resulted in seven #1 songs, over one-million downloads and packed houses at his shows!
This time, he has pulled out all the stops to promote what people are calling one of the most exciting live entertainment events coming to Southeast Texas: Mean Gene’s Southern Fried 4th Of July Picnic and Music Festival to be held at The Hawg Stop Amphitheater in Houston.
Mean Gene’s 4th of July Picnic event has been compared to another famous Texas singer’s 4th of July Picnic, but he insists that his event will be more like “Woodstock... Texas Style!”
“We are bringing in some of the hottest Southern Fried bluesrock bands from around Texas and across the country,“ says Mean Gene. “Their music appeals to people who’s musical tastes includes ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Stevie Ray Vaughan!”
Talk about “shamless promotion” Mean Gene is even publishing his own special edition magazine featuring stories and articles about the event, bands and charity organizations benefiting from the event. This special collector’s edition publication will be distributed across Southeast Texas.
During the event, a live CD and DVD will be recorded to capture the event for all time much like the original live footage of Woodstock. Sponsor’s names listed on the CD and DVD jacket as well as listed in the rolling credits ON THE DVD!
Sponsors will also be glad to know that a portion of the proceeds will go to Texas Equusearch, Harley’s Angels and Toys For Tots.
